INSPIRATION POINT

As you can see from the pictures, the views were spectacular.

Pam and I decided to take advantage of the last day of the Presidents' Day weekend and go explore Yosemite National Park. Neither one of us have ever visited the park when there was snow on the ground.

We were not disappointed.

We wanted to catch the shuttle and hike up to Mirror Lake, but decided it would be too much of a hassle since we had time constraints and had to be back in time to do things around the house.

We headed back and stopped just east of the Wawona Tunnel and hiked up to Inspiration Point. You enter the park and heads towards Yosemite Valley. As soon as you exit the tunnel, immediately turn right into the parking lot. The trailhead is visibly marked. The start of 2.6 mile hike was a bit strenuous (almost reminiscent of Baldy Bowl or Vivian Creek, but once you got past the "breath away" point it was smooth sailing from there except for the very frequent postholing we endured along the way up as well as down. We carried our snowshoes on our packs as we opted for the Yaktrax for our journey. Maybe it was better we wore our snowshoes. Oh well. We had fun. In fact, we had a blast.

And to top it all off, a good soaking in the Marquis Spa...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
