For the very first time for me (my wife's second), I will be going to Death Valley National Park.
We initially planned to go on New Year's Eve, but due to a miniscule "work conflict" we were unable to travel to DVNP to watch the blue moon.
And wouldn't you know it, with this storm system moving in this weekend, we will probably get wet.
Now, that would be cool.
We plan to drive as far as Ridgecrest and seek "shelter."
The "highlight" (or I should I say "'be'-lowlight") of our visit is going to Badwater Basin at 282 feet below sea level. Having been to the highest point in the contiguous United States (Mt. Whitney at 14,497 feet), might as well be at the lowest point in the contiguous states.
Someday we plan to backpack the 130 miles from Badwater to Mt. Whitney - a variant of the L2H -- just to say we did it.
Another white space is eliminated from our 2010 calendar.
