AND THEN THE RAINS CAME AGAIN...

Nearly an inch of precipitation has fallen in the Sierra foothills during this Memorial Day weekend. The first measurable amount of rain since February.

What the sun couldn't do, this rain storm did...the snowpack on the lower mountains are gone. They are no longer visible from our vantage point.

The "green" has slowly turned into "sand" with a specks of the scrub oak dotting the countryside. The pools of water from the winter storms have all but disappeared.

What was so very hot just last week has been very, very mild and cool.

Life is still very, very good. Our "backyard" is still very, very beautiful. We cannot ask for anything more...

No matter what color be it green, sand or white.

TRIPLE DIGITS!

Right now, the thermometer reads

105°

at 1500 feet above sea level.

After a quick splash in the pool, it doesn't feel that bad.

FRESNO GRIZZLIES

The seats are in the field box directly behind home plate.

First pitch was a strike.

Final score: Grizzlies 6, Royals 4.

Pam and I went to our first professional baseball game in Fresno Friday night to watch the Fresno Grizzlies take on the Omaha Royals for a 7:05 pm game.

Chukchansi Park is a beautiful park in downtown Fresno. They have killer ballpark franks! There was a spectacular fireworks show immediately after the conclusion of the game.

CLOSE ENCOUNTER

As I went outside to put on my hiking boots, I was amazed to find a little Pacific rattler underneath. The little guy got under my boots (flat sole, no heel) by flattening himself out and I figure he nudged himself under the rise of the front of the boot.

I didn't want to kill it, but the consensus of the family was that I do. I got the shovel and killed it.
